Prevailance, Inc. is a thriving Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business. Since 2005 over 670 talented professionals chose Prevailance as their place of employment, and together we established a brand recognized for delivering high value professional services to a cost conscious world. Our employees have lived our core values of Teamwork, Integrity, Passion, and Creativity and used them to expand our influence to 12 states and 15 worksites. Like most small businesses our origins were humble.

During a port visit to Haifa Israel in 1998 two combat Naval aviators formed an agreement, with no more than a handshake, that together they would form a business entity at the conclusion of their Navy careers. They were unsure what this entity would do, but they were sure it would reflect their passions, creative instincts, and above all their commitment to principled business practices. Fulfilling their vision, John “Otis” Owens and Larry “Rat’ Slade incorporated Prevailance in January of 2005. Working from kitchen tables and a rented racquetball court, they steadily earned customers and established Prevailance as a premier provider of professional services to a diverse set of DOD clients.

When they Navy needed a trusted industry partner to prepare Sailors for survival situations, they chose Prevailance to deliver Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape (SERE) training. This arduous program provided essential survival skills tailored for Navy personnel operating in the most hostile environments. Through a blend of academic coursework and high-risk field exercises, SERE training instills the confidence and resilience Navy personnel need to prevail in extreme survival situations. We are grateful to have partnered with these warriors for 15 years, enabling them to put themselves in harm’s way with great confidence.

When the Navy required an industry partner to deliver instruction in classroom, high risk laboratory, high risk field exercises, and fleet synthetic modalities, they chose Prevailance. To date, our instructors professionally delivered engineering, damage control, and high risk firefighting instruction to over 100,000 Sailors in support of Surface Warfare Schools Command. Additionally, we assisted in establishing the Navy’s high-risk Waterborne Security Boat course of instruction in San Diego.

When the Navy needed an industry partner to assist in the development and generation of combat forces, they chose Prevailance. For the past eight years we assisted Navy Expeditionary Warfare Development Center (NEXWDC) in the delivery of advanced expeditionary training, the development of advanced tactics, and the implementation of the Navy Expeditionary Combat Forces (NECF) training continuum. Additionally, we completed dozens of analytical projects that enable surface forces to deploy with greater readiness, enable the improvement of anti-terrorism force protect training and equipment, and supported the Navy in improving its return on training investments.

In fulfillment of John and Larry’s vision, the Navy has come to rely on Prevailance to deliver in the most demanding and high stakes situations. Our Nation’s warriors operate with greater confidence and higher readiness because of the services that Prevailance provides them. Together, we delivered impactful solutions, forged lasting connections, and created a legacy of trust. This year, we honor our past, celebrate our present, and look forward to an Epic future. We are poised to meet the next 20 years filled with new opportunities, continued growth, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. Join us in celebrating 20 years, and here’s to our next chapter!

Our 20th Anniversary slogan is A Platinum Salute to an Epic Future! This slogan embodies two essential ideals. First, it reminds us of who we are and invites us to honor the hard work and dedication that brought us here. We are grateful for the vision and leadership of John and Larry. We are humbled by the dedication and commitment to excellence of over 670 current and former employees who chose to make Prevailance their company for the past 20 years. Lest we become complacent, the second half of the slogan, an Epic Future, calls us to look ahead—to dream big, to set audacious goals, and to commit ourselves to an extraordinary future. This commitment will demand more from all of us, and in turn, it will offer more—greater professional growth, richer opportunities, and the satisfaction of contributing to a company that endures and excels. In 2025, we will honor our past, celebrate our present, and prepare for an epic future. The next 20 years are brimming with potential: new opportunities, continued growth, and an unwavering dedication to excellence.
